Features to know about

Bring More Gear on Every Trip: 2" Class III Receiver Handles Bikes, Cargo, and Trailers

A solid 2" receiver means you can hook up just about any hitch-mounted accessory you own. Whether it’s a bike rack, cargo basket, or small utility trailer, this hitch is ready to haul it. With a 4,500 lbs gross trailer weight capacity and 675 lbs tongue weight rating, it’s built for mid-sized loads like small boats or campers. It’s a great way to add carrying space for work gear, weekend trips, or outdoor adventures.

Install It Yourself with Confidence: Bolt-On Design and Included Hardware

You don’t need a lift or a welder to put this hitch on. The bolt-on installation uses included hardware to mount directly—no welding or complicated modifications required. It’s made for easy setup in your own garage or driveway, so you can get the job done with basic tools and get back to planning your next trip.

Keep It Looking Sharp: Concealed Cross Tube and Open-Back Receiver

The cross tube tucks up behind the bumper for a clean, factory-style look instead of a bulky bar hanging down. The open-back receiver makes maintenance simple by letting you clear out dirt and road debris easily. It keeps the hitch looking neat and working smoothly every time you use it.

Built to Last Through Weather and Road Grime: Durable Powder Coat Finish

Road salt, rain, and grime don’t stand a chance against the dual-layer finish. A protective base coat topped with an industry-leading powder coat helps prevent rust and chipping, keeping this hitch strong and looking good season after season. It’s a tough setup made for real-world use, not just the showroom floor.

I’ve installed many hitches and this one for my 2021 Toyota Venza was a piece of cake. It went on without lowering the exhaust and fit perfectly on the frame rails. The holes in the hitch rails are slightly oblong so I recommend pushing it all the way rearward so there’s no slack. The hitch was in great shape except for the box but I’ve come to expect that. Kick sensor works just right of center. Overall very pleased!

by:

This is the third hitch I've purchased from etrailer. The prices are reasonable and delivery was great. As others have posted, and I've previously experienced, the shipping box didn't hold up. The hitch was sticking out at two places, but no damage. All the mounting hardware was securely attached to the hitch, so no problem here either. Installation was a breeze (but this was my third). You'll definitely need a large torque wrench. If you don't have one, see if your local repair shop will tighten the bolts for you. And the lift gate sensors still work!

by:

Hitch receiver was a perfect fit for my Rav 4. Easy installation as described in the video.

by:

This is my second Curt hitch (different vehicle) from eTrailer. Installation was a breeze due to the online videos. The hitch seems solidly built with good welds and a nice finish. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

I purchased this to use with a bumper-style bike rack. The installer knocked off 25% of the quoted installation price because it was easier to install than he had expected it to be. The vehicle is a 2019 RAV4.

by:

The product itself is wonderful! It arrived very quickly. The only thing I would change is the packing. When the hitch arrived, the box had holes in it where the mounting brackets had cut through.

by:

I was able to install the trailer hitch on my 2025 Toyota RAV4 without jacking the car up. Although one bolt was challenging to screw in due to clearance, I used a scissor jack to adjust the trailer hitch alignment also using a hand mirror to locate the one bolt hole on the passenger side. The other 3 bolt holes were not an issue. It’s a high quality hitch at a bargain price.

by:

Easy installation on a 2023 Venza, followed etrainer's videos and they were spot on. One person with a floor jack, about 1 hour, no need to drop the exhaust or any other unusual steps. Hitch receiver itself looks good and solid.

by:

It could not possibly have been easier to install this hitch on my 2024 RAV4 hybrid. Toyota had thoughtfully drilled and threaded all necessary holes in the frame. The Curt trailer hitch matched the pre-drilled holes exactly. In addition, the hitch fit into the frame without me having to lower the muffler/tailpipe assembly as several YouTube videos had suggested. I had a helper. I laid on my back and lifted the hitch into position. My helper then started the 4 bolts that secure the hitch to the frame. We then torqued the bolts to the recommended 86 ft-lbs and we were done. If you have access to 2 scissors jacks to lift the hitch into position, you might be able to install this hitch yourself. It took us less than an hour.

This trailer hitch receiver fits my 2022 RAV4 XLE hybrid perfectly, as etrailer claimed. I have come to expect this reliability from e-trailer, as I've bought multiple items from them over the years. I didn't need to contact them this time for assistance, as their website thoroughly covered it, but I know from experience they are extremely helpful when contacted. I was able to install it myself at home in a couple of hours, counting tool gathering and getting all the bolts properly torqued, with a floor jack and some wood blocks. In case it helps, here's how I did it and what I encountered: I put it in position under where it would mount, a little forward maybe, on the ground to where I could tilt it back and angle the front protruding arms of it up to get them over the tailpipes and into position just below the mounting rail holes with the aid of some wood blocks and a little patience, then I could get the floor jack under its center and lift it into position and align and support it. The mounting holes aligned well and the bolts started easily. I did not need to jack the car up or unhook the muffler, though both are options for improved access and leverage. Torquing the driver side bolts was straightforward as they are readily accessible with plenty of clearance for both the socket and the torque wrench arm. On the passenger side bolts, I used a Capri Tools 19mm, 1/2" drive, 3" extension torque adapter (basically a 3" crow foot 12 pt socket - I found the 12 pt socket helpful for flexibility for wrench-ext alignment) to get access to the bolts, as there is not enough headroom over the bolts for a socket. Do the math to determine the correct (lower) torque wrench setting, and torque wrench's angle to the extension when using the extension (ideally a straight line), to ensure the proper 86 ftlb torque at the bolt (The socket-to-handle center measured 14" on my torque wrench, so with the 3" extension I set my torque wrench to 86x(14/(14+3)) = 70.8 ftlb); I'm pretty sure this is correct, but do verify it for yourself. I'm no expert. You don't get the full rotational arcs to tighten like on the driver side bolts, but you get enough to get the job done with more shorter arcs. My 18" long, 1/2" drive, click torque wrench, rated to 150 ftlb worked well to get to the spec'ed 86 ftlb. Once installed it fits nicely under the bumper panel, just barely touching it, just as in pictures posted on their website.

by:

Arrived quickly. THe hitch was sticking out of the box in a few spots but no damage. It aas fairly easy to install but required a 19mm box wrench for my 2023 Toyota Venza. There is very little space on the passenger side and the rachet/torque wrench would not fit. I am only using it for a small cargo carrier but it seems sturdy enough for a small trailer.

by:

Fit perfectly. Challenging to hold in place while threading the bolts - ended up lying on my back , pushing the bar up into position like a bench press, then holding it in place with my legs/ feet , and sliding the screws in with my fingers when i had the holes lined up. I imagine there are easier ways to do it. An hour after i started, i was done with the hitch and watching the video on the wire harness. Result looks great and maybe only losing a little clearance- like an inch below muffler on rav4.

That's awesome, R! I don't think I have ever heard of anyone using all four limbs to install a hitch before - more power to you!

by:

Trailer hitch was a straightforward installation. Powdercoat was ok but thin around the receiver portion. I sprayed some black enamel on what looked like thin areas. I found plastic square end caps to prevent corrosion through the main tube. I think the manufacturer should include these. So far no major corrosion and bile rack fits well. Good hitch.

by:

Installed on my wife's '24 Lexus NX350h.
Shipping box was a bit beat up, but that was expected from reviews I read. A couple of scuffs on the hitch were hidden up under the car so not a problem.
Simple ordering process and hitch was delivered exactly as promised.
Excellent fit and finish. It was tricky getting the hitch up under the car, but I didn't need to lower the muffler.
All hardware was there and in perfect shape. I was able to torque the bolts with no problem-plenty of room under this particular car. The tow loop did have to be removed. The whole process took about an hour.
The hitch will be used for a bike rack. Overall very easy and an excellent product.

got trashed in shipping, no damage to hitch.

Glad the hitch arrived unscathed! What are you going to be using the hitch for, a bike rack maybe?

by:

My husband and I watched the installation video a couple times, then we installed it in about 40 minutes. Once we got the car on jack stands, we used the floor jack to help support the hitch weight as we moved it into place. That was a huge help, and when we got one bolt in each side, we rocked it into place with the jack. It helped when we were trying to align those last two holes. It looks great! The fit was perfect. Our first order with e-trailer, and it was a great experience!

by:

Fast shipping at a great cost. Trailer hitch was easy to install at home on driveway. Did use a floor jack to lift and hold the hitch as bolts were installed.

by:

Installed this hitch (Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C77MJ) on a 2025 Lexus NX350 AWD. The hitch fit perfectly and looks great. This hitch will primarily be used to attach a bike rack to the car. The installation was preformed in my driveway and no helping hands, just me and a floor jack. After raising the rear of the car about 6 1/2 inches, lowering the exhaust, I sat the hitch on a floor jack and rolled it under the car. I rolled the jack forward and raised the hitch into position, installed the four bolts and conical washers, then torqued to spec. Start to finish was about 1 1/2 hours. I really like the hidden crossbar. ((Bonus)) The rear gate kick sensor still works!!!

by:

Perfect fit and extremely easy to install. Literally 4 bolts and you’re done. Toyota RAV4 also makes it easy by placing stickers over the bolt holes so debris doesn’t get in. Just pop them off and line up the bolt holes. One man job and did it in about 30 min with a floor jack helping hold up the hitch as I lines up the holes. No need to remove exhaust. Drivers side is easy to torque but passenger has very little room to get a torque wrench and socket so a crowsfoot or extension is needed but no big issues.

by:

It’s a pretty decent hitch for the money. The box it came in was damaged and there was minimal protection for the hitch. Thankfully there were no missing parts or damage. There was a slight fitment issue and I had to cut some foam out of the way and mess with the body of the vehicle for the hitch to sit perfectly. It’s also worth noting that my hitch is angled about 1cm to the right which is putting the ball roughly 4cm to the right when towing. I’m not sure if that’s an issue with the hitch or my car. I haven’t put a square to it yet to check but I haven’t noticed any issues towing with it like that.

1 year update. The hitch is still going strong. I figured out the hitch was the issue when it came to the offset angle I had at the receiver. However it was only a 4cm offset to the right with the ball on and hasn’t caused any issues. The hitch does hurt the clearance of the RAV4 so I’ve definitely roughed it up a bit and it was something I expected considering I didn’t go for the more hidden bumper hitch. Even though I had minor issues I’d still recommend making the purchase.

@Marshall Glad to hear it's mostly working well for you! Sorry to hear it was offset though. It does happen every now and then, but it generally doesn't affect the performance or longevity of the hitch. I have seen it way off once though, so we replaced that one. What are you typically using the hitch for?

Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
Part Number: C77MJ for 2025 Rav4 Hybrid XLE

Box had several holes where hitch poked through box. Some scuffing and paint worn off, but no real damage. It does fit well.
Accessory wiring package ordered with it was crushed and parts were loose in box, but no damage. Could have lost pieces. Hitch seems ok, just a little scratched where sticking through packaging. Accessories should have been taped to box in a safe location.

Installation was not bad. Next to impossible to fit in place without elevating car. Ramps make it so much easier if you don’t have a lift. If you have the patience to fit and remove before installing, you can check to see if the heat shield for the muffler needs to be bent out of the way. In my case, the center rear of the shield sits hard on the hitch. I don’t think it will rattle. Two people make it much easier.
Passenger side bolts have just enough room to fit the bolts in place. Not sure I can get a torque wrench in there without a “crowfoot” socket.

It does seem to hang down low, but there is still a little more ground clearance than the undercarriage of my 2025 Rav4 Hybrid. The top of the receiver hole is about 12-13” high on a Hybrid Rav4.

Watch eTrailer video. It is instructive.

That is great to hear! I am glad the installation when quick and easy. It is good to know that vehicle doesn't require any cutting, most do. What are you planning on using the hitch for?

by:

Pros: the hitch arrived on time and in great shape. Cost savings over eTrailers' competitors was huge. One-man installation went exactly as expected and took less than 30 minutes with the right tools (Stanley cutting knife, 19mm (or 3/4") closed end wrench, torque wrench with 19mm extension, portable work light, and pneumatic jack which was very handy in lifting the hitch into place). The hitch slipped right into place on my 2021 RAV4 without having to jack up the car or drop the exhaust system. The hitch came with the right hardware and good instructions. Cons: the shipping box had a few holes in it from the hitch punching through, but the hitch is so sturdy there was no damage to it whatsoever. Overall, I was very impressed with this hitch from eTrailer and the entire transaction and installation could not have gone smoother.

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2024 Toyota Rav4 that Does Not require Cutting into the Bumper
Hi Stephanie! Great question and you’re totally right to ask, because most hitches for the 2024 RAV4 do require a bit of bumper trimming. That includes the Oris Detachable Hitch #TS66VR, since it uses a hidden design that needs a hole cut in the fascia for the receiver to come through. If you’d rather skip the cutting, I’d recommend going with the Curt Class 3 Hitch #C77MJ. It bolts right to the frame and sits neatly under the bumper no trimming required. It's not completely concealed...

  • Will The Same Hitch Fit A 2022 Toyota Venza And RAV4?
Hi Steven! Most of the hitches available for a 2022 Toyota Venza will fit a RAV4 as well, but not all of them. • Will Reese Adjustable Ball Mount Fit in the Rise Position on a 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

Is this the vehicle you're wanting to use the hitch ball on, and what trailer hitch do you have installed?

Hello Hal, Congrats on the new ride! What is your favorite new feature? With any aftermarket hitch there is the possibility that the hands free tailgate sensor will be covered. So if you install B&W Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # BW47BR on your 2025 Toyota RAV4 it is possible to lose full capabilities of your hands free tailgate, in our experience you can usually maneuver your foot to the right or the left of the receiver to have the sensor work. It would be nice...
